What: Since its inaugural edition in 2019, the annual Berlin Climate and Security Conference (BCSC) has become the global forum connecting governments, international organisations, experts, and practitioners working to promote interlinkages between different approaches within the climate and security agenda whilst also critically interrogating complex new challenges.

Why: To promote, coordinate and advance concrete climate security approaches and initiatives to drive action and implementation efforts.
The sixth edition of BCSC will explore how to secure a climate for peace. The conference will examine why climate must be integrated into peace-making. Through taking stock of best practice examples, it will further advance concrete climate security approaches and initiatives.
BCSC 2024 will focus on:
- Linking climate risks and security objectives and identifying how the role of the security and defence sector can address this nexus;
- Building awareness and capacity to conduct and use climate security risk analysis and foresight assessments to enable holistic peace-building and stabilization action;
- Examining climate change impacts and the entire conflict cacle from peace-making to post-conflict reconstruction.
